Feng Shui Real EstateThe belief in feng shui real estate selling/buying tactics are unconventional, however, some swear by them. Feng shui real estate practices consist of ridding a home of it's negative energies and aligning the home towards positive elements.

Wikipedia on feng shui: "The Law of Heaven and Earth." Today's Feng Shui schools teach that it is the ancient Chinese practice of placement and arrangement of space to achieve harmony with the environment.

As a real estate agent, believing in feng shui may not be your conviction, however, knowing what a client who believes in feng requires is an important step in keeping the customer happy. Here are 8 Feng Shui real estate considerations when working with a feng shui buyer or seller (click here for feng shui home staging tips):

  • Curves in feng shui are considered good luck
  • There should be more doors than windows, otherwise the feng shui homeowner may have problems.
  • Staircases that do not align with the front door create negative energy.
  • The front door is where vital energy enters a home. Keeping the front door free of clutter, well oiled, and well maintained is a must for feng shui.
  • Color sends a strong message. The shade of color or a change in color will change or transform a life, say feng shui believers.
  • The family room is the center of family life. The proper spatial arrangements of furniture is critical. Energy flows freely when properly spaced.
  • Lighting is energy. The proper lighting is critical.
  • House numbers play an important role in the luck of a believer in feng shui.

The point here is to be familiar with the principles that underlie feng shui for your customer. In the same way one would respect the unique cultural beliefs of an ethnic group. Here are a few resources for real estate feng shui: Realty Times Article | Realtor.org on Feng Shui
