Real Estate Links, Income, and Charity

We are pushing 225 lenses now, not only in real estate related lenses, but lenses on many other topics. Our children have gotten involved and created some of their own! We have always donated all our Squidoo earnings to one charity or another. Given our dire economic times in most American communities, I thought I would post our recent earnings. Perhaps some could use the extra income to get through the winter months, or to contribute to their favorite charity:

The above earnings are from Squidoo's matching of Google's adsense. In other words, the monies above are not from affiliate sales, but from creating lenses. We haven't gotten into the affiliate marketing thing much, but a friend is making as much $1000. per month on a single lens!
As a real estate agent trying to make the best of an online presence, we feel Squidoo (or similar) is a must. There is something unique acquired by rubbing shoulders with affiliate marketers. Squidoo is the hub of affiliate marketing! In the online real estate world we want a ton of traffic, however, sometimes the targeted traffic is neglected. Affiliate marketers not only want the traffic volume, but market their products for targeted traffic.

I didn't know people were so successful with Squidoo!
So how do you earn money from your lenses?
When you first start creating a lens, it asks whether or not you want to make money for yourself, a charity or no one.
Yup, folks are making money on Squidoo, and real estate agents (and others) are using Squidoo to develop relevant inbound linking resources. Squidoo is similar to ActiveRain in that ya kinda get sucked in. Very addictive, so tread lightly! Nick, you would like Squidoo as there are many musicians, and folks in the arts in general, using Squidoo to simply tell their story or write about something they love to do. Judy, we have a ton of lenses, however, the payout I posted above is only on the best 30-50 lenses. Squidoo's payout tiers rewards lenses with higher lensrank. There is a user by the username of flowergardener (her name is Deb and very nice!) who only has about 80ish lenses and her payouts are double ours, and she has a bunch of affiliate marketing stuff going on with her lenses as well.
Who determines who gets paid on their lens and who doesn't? What does your lens have to do to get paid?
Here I was thinking I could make a bunch of money by just having one lens. I'll see if I can come up with a couple of ideas tonight and post them here tomorrow (If I remember).
I couldn't think of a better way to do some fundraising for a charity. Write about things you like.

As you might know, I created my first lens as part of The Greatest Real Estate Agent in the World contest. I even made another one (personal and under a different user name and created a group around it). I have it in the back of my head to keep at it and this is the push I need, especially for the upcoming winter downtime.
I really didn't think there was much of a chance of earning enough money for the charities but you've proven me wrong - although I don't know if I will ever get close to your amount of lenses! Great work!
