The 80/20 Rule | Time Management

Sometimes I feel like I'm wandering in the desert as I frequent many online circles, but cannot say any one place can be called home. I'm envious of the folks that have 'camped out' at one online location and have established roots. However, there are advantages to getting around. I'm subscribed to many affiliate marketing blogs as a result of Squidoo and a fellow was trying to sell the book, The 4-Hour Work Week by Timothy Ferris. I've since bought the audio version and very pleased with the purchase.

Essentially, what I walk away with from the book are principles in time management (among many, many other things). The book's purpose is to work less and earn more, however, I see the book as means of simply being more productive. The single greatest principle in the book, in my opinion, is the 80/20 principle. Essentially, the 80/20 principle advocates 80% of what we do is 20% productive, while 20% of what we do is 80% productive. Among the many time sucks the author suggests managing and/or removing are emails and spending time online. The book recommends prioritizing your day the night before, and not allowing emails, web surfing (among the many things we waste time on), etc., to not interfere with the priorities set the night before.

I would recommend the book. I've started prioritizing my day the night before and it's amazing the amount of work that can be done prioritizing my activities this way. .
