Chicago wins USOC 2016 Olympics Bid

After a long and well organized campaign to convince the United States Olympic Committee that Chicago would be a better candidate for the 2016 Olympics then Los Angeles, The USOC today announced that it has selected Chicago over Los Angeles for it's bid to host the 2016 Olympics.

This is a major step in the process for selecting a city to host the 2016 Olympics by the International Olympic Committee and a huge accomplishment for the City of Chicago who has never hosted an Olympics before. Planning for this honor to represent the USOC began years ago with a firm commitment by Chicago City officials to revitalize areas of Chicago that needed a little help.

Trump International Hotel and TowerThe revitalization of downtown areas has been nothing short of incredible and the side effect of this is the number of developers who are investing in the development of Chicago high rise luxury condominiums and Urban Villages within Chicago.

While many of the projects were planned long before the Olympics bid, developers have seen the potential for demand in building Luxury condominiums in the downtown area of Chicago. Obviously, the most well known name in Ultra High Rise Condominium Luxury is the Trump International Hotel and Tower which is under construction and over 70% sold out. With prices ranging from $998 to $1343 a square foot, the avg. dollar per square foot for downtown living will be going up when the tower is completed.

This is just one of many major real estate projects within Chicago and it's actually mind boggling with all of the new construction choices in Chicago and the surrounding villages that make up the Chicago Suburban real estate scene.

The Chicago real estate scene really is quite incredible. While many other areas such as Las Vegas Real Estate and Phoenix seem to always be in the headlines for real estate (not in a very favorable light in the past six months) Chicago has been quietly redeveloping into a very favorable environment for investors/developers.

Since we are licensed real estate Brokers in Illinois we can provide a pretty good comparison between Chicago and Las Vegas when it comes to real estate.

Obviously, the hard work and planning by Chicago city officials is paying off but it's only the beginning. The International Olympic Committee will not make it's final choice for the city that will have the honor of hosting the 2016 Olympics until 2009. Hopefully they see what we saw when we decided to relocate to Chicago when making their final decision, --- Chicago will be a great city to host the biggest international venue in 2016. And we promise.... no monster trucks in the opening ceremonies!
