Cubs win World Series after Webmaster comment!

Long ago when the baseball season started and the Cubs were off to a stellar start and something like 2 and 10, I posted something about the Cubs being officially up for sale by the very owners -- the Chicago Tribune. When I originally posted about this and contemplated a value, the very owner of this blog stated he was offering $50 bucks for the Cubs! You can read his comment here ---> Chicago Cubs Officially Up for Sale...
I've always been a big fan of baseball and I think that historical teams such as the Chicago Cubs bring great value to a sport that has had more then it's share of recent issues such as steroids.
Knowing history is understanding history and the Cubs History is a big part of why Baseball is what it is today. Here is a great article on the subject ---> http://baseball.suite101.com/article.cfm/early_history_of_the_chicago_cubs
"The history of the Chicago Cubs is the history of professional baseball. It's that simple, and it's that important."
Barry Bonds just broke the Home run record and who outside of San Francisco really cares? All of the recent scandals in baseball have done nothing but to devalue America's favorite national past time. That's reality.
Could the Chicago Cubs actually go on to even make the World Series? That's a very interesting question that more people will say No to then Yes.
Something tells me though that I'm not going to be the only one that will make the claim that it will be the most watched World Series in quite some time if the Chicago Cubs do make it to the World Series. I could only imagine what World Series Tickets in Chicago would cost if they do make it.
Obviously the price to own the Cubs is going up in value with every game they win this season and potential suitors have lined up with interest. Many of them seem to be interested in only owning a baseball team that will make money win or lose which in my opinion really has no benefit to baseball.
The rumours of Mark Cuban wanting to purchase the Chicago Cubs was confirmed by Mark Cuban himself on a recent appearance on Jay Leno. Mark is a winner and wants to win -- bottom line. It has nothing to do with money... it has to do with doing what it takes to win and that takes true passion.
Curses? The fan base of the Chicago Cubs insures whoever owns the Cubs will make money no matter what their record and it's precisely why the estimated value of the Chicago Cubs is the fifth highest in Major League Baseball despite not winning a World Series in almost 100 years.
Potential suitors to purchase the Cubs see them as only a potential investment and that's it. Mark Cuban wants to win and that's it.
Cubs manager Lou Piniella seemed impressed with Cuban's credentials.
"I don't know him, but the guy basically, he's a winner. He's a character. He has obviously got the resources," Piniella said Friday.
"I do know that he's got a lot of charisma. He likes the competition and he likes to win. So he's certainly a very viable candidate to buy the club. But there are going to be a lot of people that want the club."
Piniella said he didn't think he'd have any problems working with a hands-on boss like Cuban, if that should ever happen.
"I can work for anybody. I've done this for 20 years, all I do is my job on the field. Let me tell you this, there are going to be a lot of people that have interest, and Mark is one of them," Piniella said.
Even if the Chicago Cubs do not make it to the World Series this year, with the right owner they can and the value it will have for Major League Baseball is tremendous.
The history of the Chicago Cubs is the history of professional baseball. It's that simple, and it's that important.
