Just in Time for Christmas

Unless you've been SO busy that you never get the chance to watch the news, you've more then likely caught the several reports on the news about dangerous levels of lead in some of the very popular childrens toys that were imported in from China. Thomas the Train, Dora the Explorer, etc... very popular toys for the little ones.

It really did not make us too happy for little and extremely important reasons. As real estate professionals that understand what lead poisoning can do for Children under 6, it's certainly something that needs to be paid attention to. (There certainly are very valid reasons for disclosing the dangers to potential home buyers if you are selling a home built before 1978.)

We hear about all of the recalls, yet until now we never really saw an easy to use reference with the list of recalls for toys with dangerous levels of lead.

So, it was very nice to find out that the Illinois Attorney Generals office has released an easy to download catalog with descriptions and pictures of toys that have been recalled. You can check it out and download the PDF at their home page www.IllinoisAttorneyGeneral.gov. It's a very simple and easy to use guide that includes dangerous toys. Some of these items we were not even aware of including the little magnets and what they can do.

Scary stuff, so do yourself a favor and take a look at the guide and make sure you forward it to any relatives and friends that may be spreading some Christmas Cheer this season.
