I've recently been helping a friend of mine who has a very good kitchen and bath remodeling busness in a smaller city get his website together. We've been looking at templates, found a good domain, and so on. My business is Tampa Real Estate, highly competitive for SERP and highly technical on the site set up. His, not at all, but that doesn't matter in his business. I was ready to tackle it just like a would a real estate site, hours of blogging, linking, and so on. But something i didn't th... I've written a lot of real estate posts over the years and I thought I'd do a round-up to make it easy for everyone to find my "wisdom". I know it sounds like I'm tooting my horn here pretty badly, but there is a lot of good useful information for agents to dwell on.With that being said, there are also a ton of other great articles on the subject so I thought a quick and gritty round up would be great for everyone here. I'll try and link up everything covered under marketing including SEO, li... Read Full Post
I have been practicing real estate SEO for several years now, and as the competition in my market has increased, I have increasingly had to ask myself how far I am willing to go in order to achieve top rankings for our website. In the beginning, SEO was fun and exciting, and I agressively pursued the top positions. Of course, our company was a lot smaller then and the competition in my market wasn't as fierce. We achieved a lot of success, and it has been an important tool in the growth of ou... Read Full Post
Local search can drive some really good leads, especially when it comes to real estate. Obviously, twitter is a nice way to interact with your potential clientele, but they could be absolutely anywhere in the world. Twitter has been trying to make it easier on people looking for specific tweets in certain areas, but it only goes so far. Location and tag based twitter stats are very valuable and there's more than a few websites that have realized the hole there. As a result, they try to fill i... Read Full Post
A few weeks ago, I strolled into the local pizza joint for my regular Friday night out. Normally, the place doesn't start getting busy until after 6:00, but today this quiet little pizza parlor was a hub of activity. People were standing shoulder to shoulder, holding little plastic wine glasses in one hand, and juggling cell phones and chicken wings in the other. Everyone was chatting and passing business cards back and forth. When the hostess greeted us, my first inclination was to ask, "is ... Read Full Post
Many web owners and would-be SEO gurus think they have the whole SEO thing figured out. They've read somewhere that they should only try to get links from “relevant” sites. If you have a dog training site, then you should only try to get links from other "dog" or "pet" sites. If you have a "golf" site you should only worry about getting links from other "golf" sites. But there is a problem with the concept of “relevance”. For instance, if you own a “dog training” site and you get ... Read Full Post
If you’ve done any research into blogging, you’ve probably been exposed to the standard formula for blogging success. This formula has been promoted by countless gurus and web marketers trying to sell blogging advice and “systems” and it goes like this: Pick an interesting topic for your blog Write interesting posts with catchy titles Optimize your blog posts for the Search Engines Sit back and wait for the traffic. If you do these things, the forumula says, you will get the attention... Read Full Post
It goes without saying that the search engines - especially Google - are important if you want to get business from the web. Regardless of your business - and certainly if you are a real estate agent - it is tempting to assume there are just one or two search terms that you should focus on when trying to get search engine ranking. For example, you might assume if you are an agent in Toledo that your primary search term should be Toledo real estate or Toledo homes. This may be correct as far a... Read Full Post
To win at the search game you have to think like a search engine. That means you have to clearly spell out what each page is about. Thinking like a search engine means you should not make your visitors read between the lines to figure out what your content is about. For instance, if a particular web page is about Punkydoodles Corners homes, then the search engines should be able to clearly see that and then put that in their database: “This page is about Punkydoodles Corners homes.” In ot...
