Quirky Things Around Celebrity Homes: Britney and Michael

You are constantly reading in the newspapers and magazines about celebrities buying and selling homes.  But just like the rest of us, they still have to make sure they dot their ‘I’s and cross their ‘T’s.  So what do people do when they run into a celebrity selling and buying problem?  Or when other really strange things occur?  Put up with it or maybe even move.

Eccentric behavior is a hallmark of celebrities, but to see it in a buyer is even stranger.  A man who is currently serving time as a guest of the South Caroline penal system decided he was going to sue Martha Stewart for three million dollars for damages.  To rub salt in the wound, anything he gets he’s donating to Rachael Ray.  Why?  He attempted to buy Stewart’s home for the proper price and he wanted to pay for it in pennies.  He also claims that while touring the property, he contracted poison ivy, was scratched by bushes, and fell into a gopher hole.  Needless to say this case never quite made it to court.  The man was in jail at the time his tour of Stewart’s home occurred.

Moving along, what about the couple who found out their Malibu home is next door to a house that’s constantly being rented out for parties? It seems the house next door had been rented out by Polaroid who commenced to having over twenty celebrity parties during its tenure as tenants.  The couple had to put up with valets, illegally parked cars, photographers everywhere, and, of course, the noise throughout the night.  The couple wound up cancelling most of their summer plans because of the constant commotions next door.  While celebrity watching from next door might be fun at first, it gets a bit tiring after awhile.

Anyone who has the need or want to say they own a piece of a pop star’s life could have purchased the Tuscan Villa-style home of pop princess Britney Spear’s.  She bought the house after her divorce and decided to sell it, complete with furniture as an added incentive.  Britney’s life has pretty much been televised from start to finish and you can’t help but wonder what is next for her.  Or what the furniture looked like.

And Maryland’s Eastern Shore needs to be on the look out for sunglasses and breath mask wearing Michael Jackson.  Supposedly he is looking to by a secluded and private home in the area.  There goes the neighborhood thanks to the media coverage and photographers that will probably be camped outside his door.  The area is filled with Wall Street pundits and high-ranking officials, who may not be interested in that part of Jackson’s life.  St. Michaels is the rumored town the pop prince is looking in.

In many ways, living next door to a celebrity or even a corporation can be fun.  But it also comes with its own form of headache and aggravation, especially if you have to deal with the paparazzi on a daily basis.  You also have to deal with some of their strange behavior, some of which may make you think twice about staying.
