The Greatest Real Estate Agent In The World?

Do I consider myself the Greatest Real Estate Agent In The World?  Why of course not.  I very much think that is a description many of us strive for, but we can not give ourselves that title, it must come from our past clients both buyers and sellers.  I would be embarresed to label myself by that term, but would love to be labeled with that reputation.  I can't begin to be considered as one of the greatest agents in the world until I become labeled the best in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach, Alabama and that title will be bestowed by clients, not by me. 

The Greatest Real Estate Agent In The World Contest

Our friends over at Real Estate Webmasters came up with the idea for a contest to see who could show up as the number one real estate agent in the Google search results for a certain term. 

The idea was to come up with a search term or keyword phrase that was:

1.  a key word term specific to our industry
2. a key word term unlikely to be used by any serious searcher in their search for real estate
3. a key word term that would not harm the business of any other practitioners by the sudden influx of new entries for the given term

It was decided by Eric Bramlett and Morgan Carey that the contest term would be for the term "Greatest Real Estate Agent In The World".  This was a fun term to work with and I assure you that no one becomes the greatest in the world at anything by simply ending up at the top of a list.

The rules for the contest were posted on Morgans blog at REW and it was noted that the contest was to be in accordance with Google's Guidelines For Webmasters . 

It didn't take long for the contest to spread like wildfire amongst the many tech savvy real estate agents scattered around the world and the race was soon on for a final screenshot of results to be seen on May 1st, 2008 to determine the winner.  There was some confusion with the rules in the begining and some efforts were placed on "The Greatest Real Estate Agents In The World" or some variations that were not specifically the key term of the contest which is "Greatest Real Estate Agent In The World".  It matters not what words are used within your efforts, that is the term that will be used to find the winning results on May, 1st.

Greatest Real Estate Agent In The World -Team Eric

Well, I don't really know that much about SEO and that sort of thing and a gentleman by the name of Eric Blackwell that I have seen in the forums over the years offered the opportunity to join a team effort in the contest.  I thought it would be fun to enter the contest, learn a little something, and present a little diversion to all of the serious things we deal with from day to day. 

Since the market activity had picked up a bit, I was working on a new website, and I have some classes scheduled, I decided I would take Eric up on his offer to be "Immortal" by contributing to his entry for the Greatest Real Estate Agent In The World contest.  Eric would have a team of up to 10 contributors that would blog and comment their way into quality and relevance infamy.

On being the Greatest Real Estate Agent In The World

There is no way to be the Greatest Real Estate Agent In The World unless you are the greatest within your community, county, state, country, and continent.  When you narrow it doen to being the best on your continent, you still have a one in seven chance for being the best in the world.  Since two of the continents are relatively unpopulated, we'll reduce that to one in five or 20% chance of being the best of the best of the best!

Instead of crowing about ones self, I always try to remember that if you can't conduct yourself as the Greatest Agent In Your Community you will never be the Greatest Real Estate Agent In The World.  I will strive to be the best agent I can be by striving to do the best job I can for the buyers and sellers of Gulf Shores Real Estate and Orange Beach Real Estate and I am sure the members of my team feel the same and if so, then we really are amongst the Greatest Real Estate Agents In The World!
