Setting up your free vacation home blog
Since my last blog was, Why create a website for your vacation
home...Use a Blog. Today i am going to show you how to set-up
a free vacation home blog using Google's Blogger. This
is a free blog platform provided by Google.
- The first step is to create an account with Google is you don't
already have one. You will need an existing email address for
this. If you don't have an email address. You can try
Gmail. The account set-up screen is about 6
areas to fill in.
- Then you move to name of your blog: This is
important: Name of your blog is one of the
keys to achieving good search engine optimization. For this
test mine is: High Cotton Oceanfont Home Nags
Head. The elements I wanted to include in the title
are: Name of the Home, location (east-west), and location (by
town).
- The next field is blog url or address. Again you
want the blog's url to be relative to something people would
search. Often people will remember the name of your home
especially if it is catchy or a phrase. My blur url is:
http://highcotton.blogspot.com.
For those that are a little more technical, Blogger offers the
ability to use your own domain. If you can set it up. i
definitely would recommend your own domain.
- Choose a template: Pick something that will showcase your
home. For most people lighter templates are definitely
better. My template choice was: scribe.
- After choosing your template you are ready to start creating
your vacation home blog. Here is mine. Next we
will be going through the set-up.
Well follow these simple steps and you'll be ready for the next
installment setting up your blog. If you have any questions
you can contact
