Increasing your web presence...vacation managers take notice

Working in vacation rental management I take notice that many more companies are now embracing increased use of the Internet.   This is a great thing.  Every year a larger percent of the population is using the  internet  to book their vacation.  This trend is not going to slow or stop.  It will continue to rise.  This forces many vacation property managers into uncomfortable waters.

     The Internet is now becoming the most important way you can advertise your vacation rental company.  Unfortunately, for many property management companies they have no idea how to go about effectively marketing themselves on the Internet.  This creates a large gap between small and large companies.  Many of the larger companies are fortunate to be able to absorb the expense and are able to hire professional help. 

    Hiring a full service web company can be a route to increasing online sales.  The problem with professional help is it costs a lot.  You better be ready to spend several hundred to thousands a month depending on the amount of service you need.  The truth is most of the help is unnecessary.  Most work on your website can be done my someone with very little initial experience.  Most of today's websites administrator sides are quite user friendly. 

     A great industry example of web savvy individuals is real estate agents.  Many of them start off with very little knowledge about a website or search engine optimization and end up with the ability to compete with the larger national chains on a regional level.  Many examples can be found at places like Real Estate Webmasters. 

     Many agents learn the skills to improve their websites rankings through reading forums or sharing knowledge with others.  To have your website reach the first page takes one thing you can either pay for or accomplish yourself through "hard work".  While the process of improving your website is not physically draining it takes a large amount of dedication to do.  If you apply the basic principles you can outrank even the toughest of competition.  

     The most important aspect of ranking well with your website is to never give up.  Consistently applying basic seo principles will eventually result in your website's improving rank.  As your rank improves so should the amount of leads you receive.  Once you have the leads, it becomes about converting them into sales or listings.
