Happy Constitution Day
Posted Sep 17, 2008 @ 3:02 pm, Viewed by 363 Visitors, Read 364 Times.Personally I find it sad that perhaps the holiday that should be celebrated right along the 4th of July is delegated to having almost no role. Could there be a correlation between our lack of reverance for the Constitution and our present state today? I think it important we look at the most important part of the Constitution, The Preamble.
We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.
The only thing you need to learn from the preamble is the first 7 words, We the People of the United States. It was the people who created and gave life to the Constitution. The Constitution was designed to keep the power of government in check. The Constitution was not handed to us by government but yet it was free people agreeing to what the powers of government should be. The people agreed the powers of government should be limited and the Constitution was the document to restrain the government.
How any holiday can be of more importance than Constitution Day is amazing to me. We all owe everything we have to the foresight of the creators of this document and there belief in limited government and world peace.
A wise and frugal government, which shall leave men free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor and bread it has earned - this is the sum of good government.
