Acworth, Georgia is another one of Cobb County's quaint historic towns perfect for those that desire small town living while having the ease of access to a large city. Convenient to both Interstate 75 and US Highway 41, Acworth is just 30 miles Northwest of Atlanta and a neighbor to Kennesaw.

Acworth was originally home to the Cherokee Nation until the early 1830s. The Western and Atlantic Railroad began running in 1845 in Atlanta, delivering advancement northward to Northcutt Station, the first northbound water stop on the new track. A railroad engineer by the name of Joseph Gregg renamed this stop after his hometown of Acworth, New Hampshire. Acworth blossomed and prospered as an active trade center and was incorporated as a city in December, 1860.

This Cobb County city is surrounded by Lake Acworth and Lake Allatoona, two beautiful lakes which offer beaches for leisure or activities such as swimming, fishing, boating, skiing and camping. There are twelve parks that surround Acworth in addition to hundreds of forested acres of U.S. Army Corps of Engineers property. Logan Farm Park offers 30 acres of walking trails, several sports facilities and horseshoe pits for nature lovers and sports enthusiasts. If golf is something you enjoy, then you will want to visit Cobblestone Golf Course, one of four Acworth
courses, along the banks of Lake Acworth, which was recently rated the #1 public course in Georgia by Golf Digest.

If you prefer indoor recreation, Acworth's historic downtown offers antique shops, boutiques and specialty stores for your perusing pleasure. Acworth also has a top-rated education system; five elementary schools, two middle schools, two high schools one private school are available to the residents.

Gracing Acworth's 50-plus neighborhoods and subdivisions are Victorian homes, stunning estates and pristine condos as well as available land for development. Given most homes and other structures were burned during the Civil War, a majority of homes were built around the turn of the century and are characteristic of that architecture period. Acworth is home to many attractive residential developments, many of which are very affordable. The average single-family home in Acworth is priced around $145,000, while the large estates can exceed $2 million. Acworth real estate is ideal for families, being both affordable and located near to top-rated schools.

Even though Acworth is one of the fastest growing suburbs in the US, residents work hard to ensure the small-town integrity from yesteryear.
