Going Green in the Summit, NJ Area

For this next series, my partner/daughter, Cory Robinson will be writing about the latest trend, Going Green

 

“Cory is the first Summit-based licensed Realtor to join the U.S. Green Building Council. The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) is a non-profit organization composed of leaders from across the building industry working to advance buildings that are environmentally responsible, profitable and healthy places to live and work. Since its founding in 1993, USGBC has been focused on fulfilling the building and construction industry’s vision for its own transformation to high-performance green building. Robinson will join the other 9,448 member companies and organizations. 

 

While the annual U.S. market in green building products and services reached over $7 billion in 2005, it is expected to increase to $12 billion in 2007. With this growing trend and her involvement with various builders in the Summit area, Robinson’s choice was easily made. ‘Pursuing this route was something I had been interested in for quite some time and I’m very excited to begin incorporating my knowledge with our building partners,’ states Robinson. Cory plans to continue her accreditation by attending training and seminars across the country.” Independent Press, June 27, 2007.

 

This next series will start out with what the individual municipalities have been doing to Green their communities so please be sure to check out your own town’s progress. The second half of this series will focus on tips and suggestions for individuals and their homes to Green their surroundings and lower their carbon footprint.

 

So what is Going Green? It is just the new way to say “Environmentalism” which is the concern for the preservation, restoration, or improvement of the natural environment, such as the conservation of natural resources, prevention of pollution, and certain land use actions.
