I have a client sending me copy for her site's pages and a quick Google search of the first sentence from each article shows that she's copying content from other sites.

She's justifying it by saying that each of the articles is present on multiple websites.

For example, searching this sentence "In today's market, many homeowners have considered "going it alone" and selling their homes without the help of a REALTOR® to "save the commission."" shows a ton of sites using the same article.

I'm reluctant to post the plagiarized stuff to protect my reputation. Does anyone know what's going on? Is plagiarism really this rampant for real estate sites? Are all these agents stealing the same content or could this be a generic article for sale they've all purchased?

Hello all,

Hello all,

I am new to this forum and a first time poster in seek of advice on becoming successful. My interest lies in real estate and that is how I plan on making a career for myself. To start, let me tell you a bit about what I’d like to do.

My ultimate goal in life is to eventually own enough rental property to allow me to stop working (for someone else anyways). I would like to be my own landlord and possibly start my own property management business one day. In the meantime, I would just like to be able to supplement my income to dump into my savings to get me closer to that goal.

I am hoping for some specific advice from you guys so I’ll share some specifics about me.

I earn $67,380 annually. After withholdings, insurance and 401k contributions, I am netting $1750 every two weeks. I have about $30k in the bank and $30k in my 401k. I have no credit card debt, no student loans, and my vehicles are paid for. My job is decent, but not 100% secure…so I don’t want to over-extend myself by too much.
I purchased the home I live in now for $162,000 with a 3.75% fixed rate. My mortgage, including insurance and taxes, comes out to $950 each month.

I also own a home in Cottonwood, which is about 2 hours north of where I live now in Phoenix, AZ. It just went on the market on Monday for $169,000. This home is paid for and I hope to sell it soon for no less than $155,000. I would love to keep this as a rental property but because of the location, it does not make it worth it for me and I don’t want to have a property management company involved. I’d like to take this money and purchase a property close to me to rent out and maintain myself.

What should I be looking at to get the most out my situation? I want to take the right steps to maximize my potential. Should I look into paying cash for a home here of equivalent cost? Two cheaper properties? Look into apartments or condos? Stay away from putting my money into real estate altogether? Any advice would be helpful so I appreciate your time!

I've been wondering, however, whether it would be helpful to move the blog to a separate, stand-alone, site and link back to my business site (and vice versa). I've thought about doing a simple WP blog or possibly basing the blog on REW or ActiveRain.

On a related note, I've read that some people will post a short synopsis of their blog posts on their REW blog and Activerain blog. Is that helpful?

Thanks!

I've noticed a lot of multi-unit garden lowrises on the market as opposed to high rise apartments for sale. Why is that exactly? And if one is looking to buy is it advisable to avoid buying apartments which are from the 1970's (seems like good value) and focus more on newer buildings?

I'm juggling my new-broker training and even a couple of leads with getting my custom site set up, and I have a range of things I want to do with IDX - looking for how I integrate without paying a second time for the data I already buy - and that brought me here. Already seeing several clues, yay, plus lots of interesting-looking forums otherwise. Thanks for the site!

This means Trulia gains access to many of your contact information (Market Leader owns Active Rain) as well as access to IDX feeds in 43 states and 130+ MLS's (Market Leader owns RealEstate.com and has brokerage licenses)

I am going to write a blog post and start a campaign on this to talk sense into agents / brokers as to why Trulia (and now Market Leader) are bad for the industry - but for now, I'd like to open up the floor to discussion from our members. There is also a private discussion going on at the REW Chat on FB for those of you who are members.

Let's here it - what do you think about the Trulia / Market Leader merger / acquisition.
