I might add that clutter is the enemy of a house showing well. And most people have too much "stuff". So the solution is to get a lot of "stuff" out of the house and into storage. If necessary, rent a POD . Smartbox, or take some things to a Temp Storage facility. It can be well worth the trouble and cost.

Great tips. I cant tell my clients enough times to remove family pictures from the walls. Buyers will go through and pay more attention to what is on the wall versus what they can put on the wall. They will leave the home thinking about where they know this or that person from, versus how their things would look in the home. The best compliment I have ever heard while showing a home was, "someone lives here?" I will have to print this list off and post it.

I've relocated my interior design business from Pennsylvania to Arizona and I'd like to offer staging services to the realtors as well... do you have any tips for me to get started?

Getting started all over again, building up clientele, advertising, the whole bit is always hard to do. On the side of staging, are you renting the furniture, or do you keep inventory?

I'm sure you've been staging and in business for many years. I've been practicing about twenty years but never offered staging services to the realtors...but would like to start.

Any advice you have is greatly appreciated.

The idea is to keep the house looking clean, minimal and simple. The primary thing that will get the eye of a potential buyer is space for them to add their own personal stamp on the house. Having all of your wallpaper and tacky figurines will make the house look crowded.
