    Default Refreshing content

How much and how often should I be updating content on a site to keep the search engines happy? Can adding current events every month .. local news keep them at bay?

    Thanks for any imput

You might gain some insight into MSN algorithm's by reading this post, which speaks to how some sites are making their way up the MSN SERPs.

I have noticed personally, to echo what the above-mentioned post states, that MSN particularly likes to see new content on its sites, even if you are changing up a paragraph.

I don't recommend changing your content for the search engines. I do, however, highly recommend adding or revising content as needed to please your readers and increase your conversion rates.

I understand what you mean by "keeping MSN happy," but it's a slippery slope to think that way. In most cases, there are better uses of your time than constantly tweaking content for search engine bots.

With that said, MSN does seem to respond to frequent publishing, in my experience at least. Just be sure you're publishing content for readers first and search engines second. A blog is a great way to do this. You can post to a blog every day without much effort, and it's a great way to offer your audience fresh, helpful content.

    Good luck!

    Hi Ben.

I stumbled across this article over at SEOchat.com and thought of you. It talks about using freshness of content to help optimize for MSN ... uh Live Search ... or whatever they're called as of right now.

    The article:
Using Freshness to Optimize for MSN

    Take care.

I think search engine book made a pretty good statement. you dont need to change content all the time..although I think adding new content once in a while is good. Basically, don't think about pleasing the se's, think about pleasing your visitors..make sure your information is good and legible..make sure its up-to-date..things like that. just my 2 cents
