Hi everone
Here is the first strategy question:
If I excange links and my link is placed on a page that is not ranked or perhaps not indexed , is it any benefit to link to that page?
Seems like when my links page was crawled the, page where my link is would be found.
If this would be a benefit, would it matter if I linked to the page where my link was, from the same links page that I link to the link partner's homepage?
Love the forum and everyones help
Im a realtor learning SEO and have been helped a HUGE amount by Morgan and everone here.
If you are looking for a Huntsville Realtor to help sell, buy or rent real estate in the Huntsville Alabama area find local realty experts at Huntsville real estate. There are listings of rental homes, information on investment property management and opportunities for real estate link exchange.
Philip,
This question is asked often and certainly deserves an answer.
My feeling is this, if a brand new site emails me and say's I just built my links directory its not in Google yet but I have linked with a direct html text link from my homepage, and the site is relevant I link to it no problem. The reason why is because I know the link I give that site will get both the index page and the links page I am on spidered. So yes you get a benefit
I get concerned however when someone sends me a link request with a PR 6 on their index, and a 4 month old links page with no PR and no cache in google. Likely there is something going on here and I would not link in this situation without further explanation.
You will find a lot of links programs like links manager and Zues get their pages dropped out of the SE's all the time, so I try not to link with any automated linking program

Hi philipwinburn,
I'll take your questions in order...
1. swapping links when you are placing the other persons link on one of your pages that is indexed and they are placing your link on a page that is not indexed will likely negatively impact your own rankings while helping theirs...don't do it![]()
2. Once you find suitable link exchanges... you need to design the code for your link to point to the page, and with the anchor text, for the search term you are seeking to improve rankings for on the page your pointing your link to...(make sense)
Hope that helps,

Going to have to dissagree with you here Rich, there is no way linking out to a relevant site(Whether recieving a reciprocal link or not) will ever have a negative effect on your rankings, that is just not true. What is true is that you will not "gain" anything until the page they link from is indexed

Our testing shows that adding 100 outgoing links which are not reciprocated, and using your own anchor text, is brill SEO
It makes you a "directory"
brill???? Does that mean good heh

I know what your saying Morgan and your absolutely right but I assumed he was trying to increase his rankings when he mentioned that he's learning seo. I guess I oversimplified again...![]()
by the way philipwinburn.... if you'd like a list of sites to link out to from all of your indexed pages without any coming back, I have quite a list for ya![]()

Maybe I should have said good.
Try it you guys and you will find that links you have placed on your site rank higher than the actual site, even if you are in Spain and the site is in Texas.
We have demonstrated that with 3 different sites but have since removed the good SEO to test a different factor
Thanks Jenny...now I can stop looking for that dictionary![]()
