I'd spend less time worrrying about the day, and focus on the content. Mail is sorted above a garbage can 6-7 days a week. Why should I not throw out your postcard?

I think you might be underestimating this a bit. If you deliver your mail on a day when your mailbox is full, your content becomes less relevant than if there are only 2 other things in there. Besides that, some may say that a Saturday delivery is more effective because people have more time to browse "junk" mail and others save all of the mail to look at when they have time on the weekends. There is no one right answer here, I don't believe and content is the most important thing. This thread however was about when to deliver, not what to include for content.

When I was researching farming using direct mail, the message wasn't all that important. From what I understood, you were battling for real estate mindshare. As long as you are branded, and have a catchy name or a good catchy website, putting in front of your prospects 12 times a year (or more if you are so inclined) was the idea. That way, when they though of real estate, they might think of you (win for you); even if they didn't read your post card.

    That's my opinion though.

By the way, you guys that are quoting .25 cents through USPS - are you also figuring in the cost to prepare the post cards? (printing and so forth)

I can help you find houses for sale in Houston and also write at this blog dedicated to real estate technology for agents. I originally created this Houston Real Estate site and switched to REW - awesome decision.

IMO, the message is THE most important component in your marketing efforts. The right message on a used napkin can generate better results than the wrong message on the flashiest mail piece.

Is anyone else of the same opinion?

The message, how you tell/show it and what it actually is, is important.

I'd say first design the message, then display the look of the message.
If you're not remembered, you never existed.

Here, the USPS tells me they have 14 days to deliver from the day I drop off the mailing. It is kind of funny though I have my return address on the stuff, and even though it is bulk mail if there happens to be a bad address in there or something, the return the piece to me, and I can fix the issue so as not to waist time and money. From what I understand and experenced when I was in Delaware the USPS is not supposed to do that, and I am not complaining at all.
