Mass Email Software?

Can anyone point me in the direction of a free/open source mass email software. The wish list is as follows:

- Import email list capability
- Supports emailing to up to 5,000 recipients
- Display individual names in the To: field, or in the Bcc: field (i.e. I do not want email recipients to see other people's email addresses)
- Free
- A nice to have would be the ability to specify email address and name that the email is being sent by.

Tall order. I've used MaxBulkMailer, but unfortunately it's not open source. Otherwise it would potentially qualify as a solution for you. Best of luck to you in your search.

I've been using Group mail 5. The free version limits sending to 100 people at a time but the business and pro versions are unlimited.

It does just about everything I want it to including keeping an "exclusion List" for all those people who get mad when you spam them. Stick them in the exclusion list and it will make sure you never send to them again.

You can also create multiple groups to send to, it comes with a good deal of pre made templates. Overall I'm very happy with it.

Try out the free version and if you like it spend the $99 for a full version. My last mass mailing to 400 old prospects brought me a dozen sales and a few new listings.

- Opt-in email list
- Fully CAN-SPAM compliant

Or you will be paying fines for unsolicited bulk email.

I looked at Group Mail 5 and it looks pretty solid. Is it pretty user-friendly? Easy to set up?

I've been using www.swiftpage.com to manage a list of ~9000 emails - will this be able to take care of my needs?
