Default Link Exchange Strategy - Directory right off the bat?

    Hello all,

Feeling more like I'm figuring it out, but still not "confident".

When setting up pages to return links, what is the best way of going?

Links page 1, Links page 2, Links page 3? Putting them in first come, first serve?

    Creating pages for every state?

I was hesitant to go every state because that's time consuming (and daunting for a newbie), but if it proves worthwhile, I'll be happy to...

Further... What would you do if you had already started setting up links? I did 2 pages (local areas, and nationwide sites) and they're starting to fill up... If I move them to "each state" pages, should I contact every link I have and update them on the page that I moved their link to?

    Thanks,

    -Andy

I would create the state pages as you will have some flow to what you are doing. The exchange should not only be for PR and the backlink, but also for your user (not that many will use it).
IMO w/o state pages you are doing the exchange only for the SE benefit and that seems like it could be a problem in the future. The SE's want you to build the site for your user and I think the state pages is much better suited for your user.

Andy, you might consider using some type of software program to help you with your directory.

The program I use is called ReciprocalManager. The cost is minimal and the pages are totally customizeable. Here is an example: Florida Real Estate.

    Hmm...

I'm open to a links manager, as long as it fits the "REWebmasters" rules of thumb... Not 302s, etc.

But... I just spent weeks putting everything into Mambo. Is it something I can integrate?
