Default Google Base RSS 2.0 File

What do I do with this file once I donwnload it? For that matter, how do I use the RSS stuff anyway? Please pardon my ignorance on the subject.

    Thanks,

    Ryan

    Ryan,

You'll need to upload a file that calls for the RSS feed, then insert an 'include' statement into the page where you want the blog to begin.

The bottom line, for the most part, it is something REW will need to do for you.

Sounds a little outside of my expertise. What are the benefits?

For me, it's the additional keywords/keyphrases that are cached when Google visits. For instance, I did an experiment by increasing the number of entries viewed (I don't think this option is available yet with the REW blog) on my home page from 12 to 20, and I went from about position 16 on the second page of Google to about position 8 on the first page of Google for the search phrase, "kennewick real estate." My home page was last cached on Dec 4th. I am continuing the experiment by increasing the entries viewed to 30 to see what happens the next time Google caches the page.

There are many more benefits, but the search engine ranking was an immediate one for me.

Talking Re: Google Base RSS 2.0 File

That sounds like it is very effective for you. I'm glad when I see others success when they work for it. I have been talking with Morgan about it. I think what I am going to try to do is feed each blog category I have set up to the individual webpage that that it corresponds to. I am hoping that this will target traffic better than sending it to my homepage or a seperate page just for blog entries. I know that this is a marathon not a sprint in terms of using the internet as a lead generator, but, I am starting to see some results with G for secondary terms in the top three spots and others moving up much more quickly than I anticipated. Exciting stuff. Before I found REW, I was absolutley nowhere. Should help to make 2007 a good year, and make REW more money off of me!

I second that. Just yesterday I checked to see how one of my phrases is doing ("west richland wa real estate"). It's not a high demand phrase, however, a blog entry I posted on one of my other blogs came up on page 2 in Google.

I am hoping that as REW develops the blogs, there will be some controls in place to allow for more blogs per page. I think a blog with 20 entries per page with a certain keyword, will show up earlier in Google than the same blog with only five entries per page.

Check this out. I just did another search for "west richland wa real estate" as mentioned in the earlier thread, and a blog entry I posted on an Adopt-a-Tree West Richland program is #5 on the first page of Google! So, there ya go, the advantages of these blogs. And I believe more so with the REW blog.

Ummmm actually the original post was regarding the Google Base file - that you feed to Google so that you can automatically have your listings put into Google base - The RSS feeds you are referring to are different, they are the post specific RSS

Anyways - Smuck, I was thinking about increasing the amount of posts per page anyways, I think I am going to increase to 10 for now

If you guys have suggestions or feedback, feel free to start threads here (Like hey can you increase the amount of entries per page for instance
Starting LEC 7 soon but it won't be called LEC 7 - LEC 2012 coming soon!

Oops, I missed the topic of the thread being "Google Base RSS 2.0 File." I went straight to Ryan's question regarding a RSS feed and thought he was referring to a blog.

Figures, I always read the directions AFTER I put the thing together!
