Supplemental Results and Reciprocal Linking

I recently had all pages (except index page) of a real estate info site go supplemental. Every article was original content, title tags were unique for each page.

I had been using a couple paragraphs of content, in the footer of the template, that was site wide. I also had site wide links in this footer to my network of sites that are all interlinked. Site also had 2 to 4 affiliate ads on each page.

I removed this site-wide stuff, and the pages came out of Sup index about 3 weeks later.

I masked the aff links with redirects, and no follow tags, to hide the aff code from Google. Many sites with aff ads have been getting thrown into supplemental hell lately.



I also got some back links pointing to some of those internal pages.

Not really sure which of the 3 (remove site-wide stuff, hide aff links, or back-links) got the pages out of Sup index. Just glad they are out.

But I'm done with site-wide links. Not buying them, selling them, trading them, or using them to interlink my own sites. Keeping those to home page only now.

How do you check to see if google has put a page in supplemental results?? Thanks. Wayne

do a site check in Google. site:www.domain.com

will show you all pages of the site that Google has indexed. Any pages that are supplimental will say in green text, next to URL, Supplemental Results

i have a question, I used to use another seo company and everything they one way linked to me in suplement results, if i have deleted those from my server, and it still shows up in goole will the one way link that are pointing to me go away . Are these causeing me any problems with google since they are not real estate related. Everything they pionted at me is in supp results.

Are you saying that the pages on your site that are receiving the one-way links are in supplemental? As in the pages those links point to?

Not sure if that would be the cause of Sup results. Otherwise everyone, and their dog, would be working to get their competitors in the Sup index by pointing some irrelevant links to their competitors pages.

It's more likely issues on the pages themselves.

Or are the pages those one way links are on in Sup index? As in your site is being linked too from Supplemental pages. If so, these are probably very low value links. Maybe even no value.

Instead of deleting your pages. Just get more relevant and quality links pointing to those pages.

What i was trying to say was: the seo company install a link page that had alot of link exchange but where all pr0 and p1, then i deleted that directory from my server and now all those links are one way now. But they are all still indexed is this hurting me
