That was my intent as well. The dark blue of a regular link just didn't go with the theme of my site. Good luck.
Got it to work without any problems
I found out (by an honest accident) that you can be validated, if your site has the ads in HTML comments.
I uncommented it as soon as I realized that this would get you banned, but if you're the risk-taking type, it might be worth trying.
On a seperate note... The Search Engines wil penalize you for using white text on a white background, right? What about black text on top of a black background image?
I'm not sure about that one. From what Webmaster (Morgan) said, is that the Ad Coop might ban you if you hide the ads. I think I read somewhere (I could be wrong and I'm not an expert) is that having hidden text will get you penalized from Google. But if you just change the color a little bit so it's barely noticable but a different color # then there shouldn't be any problem. Anybody have different thoughts?Originally Posted by CafeMonkey

If I were you I wouldn't mess with it. Not only do you have G people looking to penalize sites with this kind of behavoir, but I recently saw posts at DP talking about how they are looking to kick people out for innappropriate behavior.
HOWEVER, if you do want to hide the links you could try div tags. They work like a charm and you can just cover the links up with a blank black image. POOF and they are gone. It will make them unclickable also which is surely considered inappropriate by DP.
