Thread: Duplicate Content - Writing

  1. Default Re: Duplicate Content - Writing

IMO, off page. One well written article can garner scores of links. I would still post the article in your website, as you will not get 'penalized' for it, however, you may not get credit for it as 'original.' Given what's been posted in this thread, that in principle, if your site is unique, then you will be ok in Google's eyes.

I'm not sure if this was addressed elsewhere. I was wondering if it would be advisable to submit articles that are worthy of submitting that you have placed on a blog that isn't hosted on the same domain as your website.

The only time duplicate content will hurt you is if your website is reviewed and found to be nothing but a disorganized attempt to game Google. However if your website has it's own unique content, and you have a diverse linking portfolio (Which is almost impossible to achieve without unique content) then posting a duplicate article will not adversely effect your rankings. Go ahead and try it, post a duplicate of one of your articles to your REW Blog and see if I lose rankings because of it
It's not going to do any harm...

If you are going to write an article, then publish it on your own website first. Let Google index the page, and only after this should you publish on other article websites.

I would only submit to the top article websites too or specialised directories for your particluar niche, as duplicate conent issues will devalue the article on the smaller article directories to the point of being detrimental to the article itself. There are probably thousends of article websites, and a link from most of these is worthless.

I used to run an article website, and had hundreds of submissions daily, I gave it up because it was pointless just adding duplicate articles was neither adding a benefit to the site or the internet.

I now have article sections on my realestate websites for niche articles only, and encourage original content.
