    Default Friendly Competition?

Alright, I'm ridiculously competitive, so I thought this would be fun. Anyone want to have a friendly writing competition? Here's what I was thinking:

    1) Topic: "Tips for 1st Time Home Buyers" (you can use whatever title you want)
    2) Length: Any
    3) Post it on www.ezinearticles.com - review the following stats after it's been online for 10 days
    4) You get 1 point for each person that views your article, 10 points every time the publisher link is followed, and 10 points every time the article is emailed to a friend
    5) Article must be submitted to ezine by January 5th
    6) You're allowed to post a link on digg.com 1 time
    7) At the end of your 10 days (which is time online - after it's been approved) download the CSV file and email it to someone - is there a REW Staffer that would volunteer?

***As far as promoting the article other ways, feel free to do any normal activities like emailing it to clients, agents, your Mom, etc... However, because we're giving so much weight to the publisher & email features (which is the whole point of article writing) everyone will need to give "scout's honor" that they won't click through to the publisher themselves, email it themselves, or ask their Mom, husband/wife, kids, etc... to do so on their behalf.

Let me know if anyone is interested!

Is it really a writing competition though? I mean it seems to me like the marketing of the article is what the competition based on the stats would be. Views and downloads are hardly a measure of writing quality - I do like the idea of having competitions though, makes things fun. It's 9 PM on xmas eve, so will have to think about it some more Happy holidays bro

Merry Christmas Webmaster! My youngest just turned 1 year old (my avatar). Just think, next year this time, your Christmas tree will have ornaments starting from about 3 feet up, and bare 3 feet and down! And, any present you put within striking distance of your toddler, will be fair game to him/her for preChristmas opening!

Have a great day. Just waiting for the kids to get up so I can play with their toys.

BTW, and in keeping with the subject of this thread, I'd be in on the article competition. Sounds like fun.

Okay, I am entering Joe Gibbons with our team. Joe just wrote an article about this very topic, submitted it to ezine but it's in the "pending" file right now. Joe's a member of the forum but I don't think he posts yet. Maybe this will get him going now that he's playing. Here's his article:

Cool! I'm glad that there are a few people down for this! I will definitely have my article submitted by January 5.

BTW - to answer your question about "writing competition" webmaster - the reason I'd like to weight the "publisher followed" and "emailed" so heavily (10 pts vs. 1 pt for viewing) is to reward the author for writing a quality article. Anyone can write a title "The Building Is On Fire!!!" and see tons of views, but no one will forward the article to friends or follow the publisher. Readers will forward the article to their friends or publish it on their own site if they read it and find it valuable.

I'm looking forward to this friendly competition!

BTW - If you've already submitted your article, make sure and download the information after 10 days so that we'll all be on a level playing field.

Let's have fun with this! I'd like to see more competitions - I think it would be a fun way for us all to promote our sites and have a little extra motivation to write quality text.

Joe's article was approved on 12/28. Just a note to others in case they don't know. If you don't have 10 articles submitted, you go into a pending file and they take a while to get approved. Once you go above the 10, they seem to approve them very quickly. So, Eric it's 10 days from 12/28 correct?

Good pointer. Yes, it will be ten days from the date the article is accepted. So, at the end of January 7, take a screen shot of your stats, or download the csv file. I think the best thing to do is to take a screen shot of your stats and then post it online.
