I had been a member of a Digg group but that was a real estate investors group in the philadelphia area. they had some interesting ideas but from looking at this website I would say not related at all. I really did not find the digg website you are talking about all that interesting. what is the big deal on them, educate me please.

You know that is a great question: In fact it prompted me to create a forum I have been meaning to create for quite some time. The Social Networking Forum
What is Digg and how does it benefit us, how do I make the best use of Technorati, why don't realtors think myspace is a good use of my time online for promoting myself as a real estate professional - all of those kinds of questions now have a home, and we have the answer - Thanks for getting me off my butt.
Starting LEC 7 soon but it won't be called LEC 7 - LEC 2012 coming soon!
Your welcome, It was just that even after looking at the site and everything I just did not get it, it did not seem any more relevant that myspace or facebook to me, actually it seemed kind of borring.

When you're engaging in any kind of social marketing, including Digg, you should probably forget while you're doing it that you are a salesperson or a real estate agent. Any kind of self-promotion on a social marketing site creates negativity from the members and they begin to slam you relentlessly. Social Marketing is a place to be cool, or different, or interesting, and to gradually gain a reputation that you can later trade off of -- like someone with 1000 posts on a forum has more credibility than someone with ten posts (though that may not necessarily mean anything).
In social media you should be an interesting person who is also a real estate agent, but you shouldn't be a real estate agent engaged in relentless self-promotion. It doesn't work in that setting.
As for social media being boring? Well, the average age of a Realtor is over 50. If you're 28 on myspace or facebook or most social media, you're ancient. What's boring to some is interesting to others, and vice versa.

Terry,
That was a good reminder to control the urge to self promote in networks that are primarily social in nature. I will have to reevaluate some of my profiles in those arenas.
Thanks,
While I have no real idea what digg is,and it was not me, I could certainly have made a blunder like the one that was made. Thanks for cleaning up your good name, we appreciate it.
