Thread: Write on your area's features!

  1. Default Write on your area's features!

I just got off the phone with a fellow that is looking for river front property. In our area, river front property is selling at 600-700k, as opposed to the average home value of 185k. He got my name because he did a search for "columbia river richland real estate." Well, lo and behold, my article I wrote on the Columbia River came back as #1 in Google. There ya go, reason to be writing on the rivers, schools, nature, whatever, of your area. Ya just never know!

I agree! I'm still working on onesourcemetro.com and we're putting detailed info on specific condo communities in the area this office will focus on. This website is getting 3.87 pages/viewer versus ~1.5 pages/viewer on our other sites. We started putting the profiles up last week and we're already ranked #3 (first page - #3) for one of the less competitive condos we profile.

Ok, here's another one. Last night we've began a relationship with a perspective buyer who did a search for "west richland real estate wine country" He is looking for land in the wine country of our area.

And again, we got a lead due to this article: http://www.joelane.com/West-Richland...tate-Wines.php It was #1 in Google.

I do not mean to "beat a dead horse," but writing on the features of an area is a very good thing.

Continue beating the dead horse - it seems like you're getting paid well for it!

This is one of the tactics I use on my website. I try to include all the neighborhoods, subdivisions, schools, and features of said city on each city page. There is one community in my area called Craig Ranch that has been like a magnet driving people to my website. When I go onto my google sitemaps account sometimes I see that the most obscure searches will lead someone to visiting my site.

When I started promoting my website, I was doing it mostly through Google Adwords. One of the positive things about that is you can see where most of your page impressions are coming from and what searches are popular. I noticed that after ("city" real estate), ("city" schools) was the next most popular search. Unfortunately, they increase the amount you have to bid on those keywords if your click through ratio isn't high enough. The other way I try to figure what keywords are worth pursuing, of course, is using the Overture Tool. I don't know what percentage of searches are done on each search engine, but I figure whatever I see on Overture Tool, Google will have a significant amount more. "Dallas Texas Real Estate" is the crown jewel of our area versus "Dallas Real Estate". Good Luck on obtaining the top spot. Even with my limited knowledge, it appears as though it can be had. Unfortunately, I don't have the time or resources to pursue it so I stick to the suburbs.

What I've been doing is writing general real estate articles, then optimizing them for a "city" real estate, then adding a couple of words to the optimization. I've found I have a few pages in the #1 position (Google) for this method. Here is an example: "home buying in kennewick wa" produces a #1 for http://www.joelane.com/buyingconsiderations.php
