Default Google Base RSS 2.0 File ???

I finished adding all of our listings to the REW blog and I downloaded the google base file to my hard drive. Not sure how to add that to the google base. Are there any instructions on this forum as to how to do it? I spent some time searching but didn't find any. Could someone post or point me?

    Thanks!

First you will need to sign into the Google Base administration area using your Google Account. Sign in here: https://www.google.com/base/welcome

Once you are signed in, you will notice the link "Register a new bulk upload file". Click this link and you will be prompted for some information (display name, description, and website url). Click the "Next" button to continue.

For Google's own instructions on registering bulk uploads, check it out: http://www.google.com/base/register.html

You will now see the form that asks for the filename and item type of the upload. For filename enter the name of the xml file that was downloaded from the REW Blogs. The naming format for this file is, "USERNAME-google-base-feed.xml". Username is lower-case, and spaces are replaced by hyphens (eg. michael-google-base-feed.xml, morgan-carey-google-base-feed.xml). From the Item Type drop down, select "Housing".

After submitting the form you will see the Base Item. Underneath there is a link, "Update items in this file....", this link will open a form which will allow you to upload the xml file downloaded from your REW Blog. Click on "Browse" and select the file from your local computer. The file will then be uploaded and reviewed by Google. It usually takes about 48 - 72 hours to be processed and authorized by Google, however I have seen it processed in under an hour. They will contact you via email once they have finished.

For Google's own instructions on uploading base files, check it out here: http://www.google.com/base/submit.html. Google also supports FTP uploading, http://www.google.com/base/FTP.html.

Hopefully these instructions were helpful and you don't have any troubles. If you run into anything, send me a PM and I'll see what I can do to help.

--this is just part of the file but I am assuming it is the same thing over and over again. Has anyone been able to upload without errors?

    Thank you for reporting this.

I've gone through the XML Output and corrected some values and added some checks. Try and download the new Google Base RSS export from your REW Blog and upload it to Google Base again.

I am unsure if I've caught all the problems, so you might get problems reported back from Google again. Please let me know. If you do, I know what's wrong.

    Thanks.

I deleted the old one and started over. It now say bulk upload failure. 15 errors. When I click on "see details and get help" I get this message:

    lipply-google-base-feed.xml

    Change settings for this file

    Outcome: Failure - help

    Number of items succeeded: 0
    Number of active items: 0

    Processed at: Feb 7, 2007 4:28pm PST

    Errors:
    Error Bad data Line #
    Internal error - help

    ----
there's two places to click on for help in the output, one says the format might be wrong and the other one say there may be an internal error. I will try again tomorrow and post again.

No problem, I am always happy to help. Thank you for helping me figure out this problem as well. I've been unable to test the Google Base export as they never accepted my "sample data".

Did a list of the errors (like before) get included?

Google Base seems to require some fields in the uploads that the Listings Manager of the REW Blogs currently don't ask for when uploading listings. This is the potential problem that I believe is occurring.

When you posted before the fields were in the XML Output, however they were left blank. An attempt of fixing this was removing the fields from the output all together. It seems as thought this hasn't worked, I might have to re-add these fields and just give Google "dummy" values so it's accepted.

.. If any of that makes sense.

I'll read up on this thread tomorrow to see what error messages you get.

    Thanks.
