Advice on Area Pages

hittails? I found the other thread on this and Webmaster said that these can be found in G Analytics too. Anyone know where? If I can get them there, I don't want to put another script on my site. Not to get off track here but Webmaster also said in one post that you can see which terms are coming from google, which from MSN etc. in G Analytics, I can't seem to find that break down either. Does hittails tell you that?

If you have GA this is how you do it step by step:

1. go to GA and click "view reports"
2. Click "marketing optimization"
3. Click "visitor segment performance"
4. Click "refering source"

you will see under the pie chart a list of where the hits come from.

5. Click the little red button next to "google[organic]"
6. Click "cross segment performance"
7. Click "keyword"
you will now see a list of what keywords users typed in that returned a search with your website that they clicked on your site from. It will tell you how many pages they viewed as well. You can do this with yahoo and msn as well.

What I get from this is where people are already finding me. If it seems like a good term, you might consider making a page and optimizing it for that term to rank that page higher than the current page that it ranks for.

thanks to both of you. I was able to navigate to that area in GA. Just need to keep the notes! It's really interesting to know which search engine likes which search term. Of course, I want to focus on google cuz it's the best for me. But, maybe -- just maybe -- this will help to figure out what the heck yahoo likes as well. ???
