    Default Ask.com

What's the story here. How do you get indexed? Or maybe a better question is, since they don't allow submissions, and it says on their website that they spider will find your site if others link to your site, where do I need to place a link to my site so that they find me? Is it important to be indexed by them to improve serps on other SE's?

Default Ask Still the Open Question

Ryan: It's tough to tell what the British based Ask is doing these days except that they are still displaying Google results. The company said they may be moving to another search company like Yahoo but they're still displaying G's results.

I guess that means that Google is the place! Whether they'll turn into another signfiicant search engine is going to be interesting. You've gotta like the way they have people wondering at least. I don't know anybody who gets many searches returned through Ask. But maybe there's someone here who does???

Uh... I think Ask is U.S. based. They are a division of Barry Diller's IAC which is based in Oakland, California. Maybe the retired butler was british... I dunno.

As far as my knowledge goes, they've always had their own search algo. They originally implemented the Direct Hit search algo and then incorporated the Teoma Expertrank algo.

They've used Google to feed their sponsored results, but they have their own PPC program now... However, I think they still use Google to backfill the paid results.

Get a link to your site on a ranking site in Ask.

Your standing in Ask will not effect your standing in other search engines... other than maybe other IAC brands, such as Excite...

I wouldn't worry about ASK. They drive zero traffic, #1 for my main term and top 3 for many others I just checked and I haven't gotten a single hit from them in the last 90 days. If you get rankings in ASK great, but if not it isn't worth investing your time into (unless you are already #1 for every term you care about in Google).

I see very little traffic from Ask.com across the sites I manage. Like said above, I would worry about the Big 3 (Google, MSN & Yahoo), before paying any attention to Ask.com.

I have to agree with Ken. Don't waste your time worrying about ASK. Concentrate on Google instead.

true but if you time make also study for the algo. of ask.com specially right now that they where develop teoma algorithm. For my own opinion, that there is a high possiblity where ask.com could replace the popularity of MSN in terms of the search users.
