    Default Howdy y'all from Texas

I have just joined and am taking the opportunity to say howdy ..... "howdy"!!

Actually I am British, but am trying to learn the local language ... perhaps I should have said howdy all y'all

I look forward to some interesting posts, and will participate when I think I have something to offer - I am a relative newcomer to real estate - had my licence just over a year, but been practicing only in earnest since last summer - great fun so far!

    Take care - Phillip

    Hey Phillip:

I'm from Calgary, which you already know, but since we are home to the world's largest outdoor exhibition and stampede, howdy is part of our lingo! Welcome and howdy back to you.

    cheers, Elke

Thank you Jeffrey, Kyle and Elke for the welcome

"Howdy" is not really a terribly British thing to say - but it is Texan!!

Houston is staging its annual Rodeo event during March .. I do not know whether it is the biggest like Elke's stampede, but being Texan it will be quite large I am certain!

    Take care y'all

perhaps I should have said howdy all y'all
    Hey Phillip Welcome!

Being a true southerner I feel I should correct you on your first post. You need to drop the "all" it is in the Y'all so just to be "southernly correct" It should be "Howdy Y'all"

You'll need to mix in a few "reckon(s)" and " fixin(s)" and you'll be talkin like a local before ye know it.

Oh and even I didn't hear this one till I moved to the mountains so I don't know if it applies to Texas or not but if "youins" are gonna hang around here a bit "youins" just might learn something ... just take it all with a grain of salt... lots of different schools of thought here. You'll just have to figure out what works for you!
Welcome just the same to you and all the new post last night!
