Default MSN Live Penalizing Heavily for Back-Linking

Link building is one of the most important deliverables of any ongoing search engine optimization plan. All three major engines are known to assign some value to a page based on the links pointing to it, and many SEOs research high ranking competitor backlinks to find the ones that they feel may be helping those pages rank well for desired terms. The problem is, even though search engines advise site owners to get relevant links to their pages, they also frown on linking schemes designed to gain links at a rapid pace.

The money quote in there (if indeed true) is about multiple sites on a single IP. Sounds like some "safe hosting" and caution with too many partners is in order??? (grin)

Back links can't be a reason for penalising in any search engine.

If this process of banning is truly based on IP address, as the article seems to suggest, I have always wondered about what would happen if you changed IP addresses or changed hosting companies. Wouldn't it be horrible to move in a your new hosting company on a shared IP address, and immediately see your search engine rankings drop or disappear completely?

This may be true and it seems that MSN favors newer sites for some reason. My site was sitting at the number 1 and 2 position for my keywords for awhile and then they dropped far back. All this, while I still move up favorably in Google.

Doesn't matter with Yahoo. Ask any former P2A member who transfered their url to another company and built a new site.
If you are looking for San Diego Real Estate or you want to view San Diego MLS listings (or at least that portion of the data feed that SANDICOR allows us to display on our websites) go to a local San Diego County real estate Agent's Site.

So it seems that Google takes nine months or so for a new domain to be indexed while Yahoo! and MSN actually LIKE (index) newer domains...

At least that's what I keep hearing.
Anyone have any info. from an actual employee of one of the three companies?
