It got pretty heated reviews from SEO's everywhere, and there's apparently a contest to rank for the keyword "Dave Pasternack".

Doh! Of course, but this is a disingenuous remark. The only thing that *is* rocket science is, um, rocket science. Marketing is not rocket science. Running a successful business is not rocket science. But there is a huge performance gap between results yielded by amateurs and those of professionals who stay on top of their trade.

SEO is a bit of magic...you never know what Google is up to. I've also had some good and bad results with PPC. The only sure thing is trying everything possible to drive traffic.

Btw, Eric, I noticed you're on the first page for your city's "city real estate" search. Has it produced good results so far, or is PPC better for you?

Ditto, that was exactly my impression.

There has been so much recent chatter about linkbaiting that his (article) is not the only article I've see posted in recent days.

Just goes-to-show-ya, original ideas for content are hard to come-by.

Btw, Eric, I noticed you're on the first page for your city's "city real estate" search. Has it produced good results so far, or is PPC better for you?

I'm actually page 2 (and climbing). I'm seeing some decent traffic, but my ultimate goal is top 5 - everything I've read indicates that's the "honey pot." I don't mess w/ PPC right now - I think it's ROI is low. I might play around with it after I'm ranked for the terms I want - just do some comparisons.

Yes, I noticed the same with PPC. For me, I can't even get a decent clickthrough rate. I think the internet consumer is getting very impatient. You have to show up in front of them several times, in different places before they take notice.

I think you like to bash people but are to afraid to ever put out anything worth while that actually would be considered a true contribution to the search community.

Its easy to sit back and watch people do things and then rip on them. Its another to be active in the industry and breaking new ground.

I am not commenting on Dave's problem but just your overall comments on this forum. They all seem to be bashing people.

If you actually read through a lot of Kids posts, you would see that he contributes quite a bit to this community, and has earned the right to be a little more laid back and have a little more fun.
