    Default Pages excluded from google

    Hey guys,

Ok, I have this site - http://www.conroeareahomes.com that has been listed with google for a little while. I used to have pretty much all of my pages (only about 60 or so) indexed and I was showing up pretty high in the rankings. All of a sudden after I made a few changes (i.e.- changed homepage from index.html to index.asp) my site completely dropped and now it says only 30 or so out of I think 198 pages are indexed. I still get traffic from google but I think I should get a lot more. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

    Jeremy

Yes, if you change your file extentions from php to html, or or html asp etc you are effectively changing the destination page, your links will no longer be pointing to the right place, your pagerank from link parnters is gone (Unless you 301 redirect) etc basically from an indexing perspective, changing your extensions is starting over in the spidering spectrum.

So what would you suggest that I do? Should I just leave it alone and wait for it to get reindexed on its own, and do you think it will recover? See, I submitted my sitemap to google and google webmaster tools says that I submitted 198 URLS, do you think it just needs more time to reindex those? Thanks for your help, this really is a cool site, I'm glad I found it.

The pages will get reindexed, however, your inbound links are the problem. Consider keeping the same file names, unless you didn't have much of any inbound links. Your search engine positioning is a combination of both the content on the page and the inbound links.
