Life was the best education to prepare myself for a career in real estate sales.

I've said it 100 times on this message board that I am only in the beginning of my second year as a REALTOR and I am doing very well.

I'm not in a particularly busy market but somehow my phones never quit ringing and my e-mail box is always full of inquiry's. I know a number of experienced Realtors in my area who are serving drinks at the local bar because their knowledge and experience were not enough to market homes in todays market.

Real estate knowledge and book learning will only get you so far.

Personality, personality, personality, motivation and effort will win the battle 90% of the time.

Even if I'm tired as hell and in a bad mood when the phone rings I answer the phone "Hello Mike Speaking, How are you today and what can I do to help you" "Certainly, I'd love to show you 15 homes today in the rain, How soon can you be at my office or would you like me to pick you up at your house?"

Positive attitude is everything.

I started real estate training waayyyy back with Floyd Wickman's real estate training (goes to show you how old I am ;-) For several years I was learning from Mike Ferry and several of his panelists, particularly Art Scott who was a world champion in expired listings.

On personal level, I learned a lot from Quantum Management Systems and Doug Yeaman about the power of commitment. And finally, I've been a student of the Law of Attraction learning from Jerry and Esther Hicks.

That's one of the most important ingredients. Becoming a Realtor isn't "get rich quick & easy" plan. You can make some serious cash much faster than in a traditional job - but it's not easy. You have to work, work, work.

Personally, the best training I've received is through Brian Buffini. We use "100 Days to Greatness" in our office. It's not the only way, but if you follow it, it's extremely effective.
