    Thumbs down REW blog, no content

    So, I am playing around with checking some SERP's ( I don't do it that often) and I notice that my REW blog is in the top 10 for "Collierville Real Estate". I don't remember writing anything on Collierville real estate (yet) for my REW blog, but out of excitement I click the link.

    http://www.realestatewebmasters.com/...e-real-estate/

    I forgot I set that up as a category because I figured I would be writing an article about Collierville real estate shortly and I should have a category for it. There is no content there, and it ranks in the top 10 in Google. That blows my mind that REW has that much authority to rank in the top 10 with zero content. So to recap the true lesson learned (I think) -- have categories with KW targeting as well as articles with in those KW targeted categories. The actual category page carries a lot of weight evidently.Add some content and BAM!

    Very interesting....

    I just had my blog (previously Wordpress) converted into an REW blog and that is integrated into my website/domain. I'm wondering if I should copy all my content to what would be my REW blog--that would be http://www.realestatewebmasters.com/blogs/jseville/ ? What do you think, Webmaster? Would it help me at all? Would it help REW?

    Look forward to input....

    It really wouldn't hurt you to post it to both, but really I think there are 2 types of content required. On your own site, you should be posting content that will keep people coming back to your website and building your reputation locally (Likely the majority of your website traffic is local) whereas REW Blogs (On this domain) help you establish yourself as a "web" authority, reaching a much greater audience and for more diverse subjects.

    Memphis;

    I'd second what Morgan just said.

    Also:

    Blogs are a place for you to a) exlode market niches and b) express your personality more cleary to a different audience. You want to be perceive as the real estate expert in your area and to generate response, leads and closings.

    BTW- The category thing works (isn't that cool? Authority is a kick), but without the content based "stickiness" , all of the rankings in the world do NOT matter. You still have to have the glue....no glue / no closings (grin).

    After you get your content on that category, send some linkage to that page (the category page) and you should be able to make it jump a bit and get even more traffic.

    I didn't see what you were ranked at...but climbing even a place or two provides significant exposure for your blog.

    Congratulations!
