I use the free perl based script from bumblebeeware. They have extra image captcha sets you can download. You wont have to install any modules and it can easily adapt to any program.

It has been a life saver on my existing programs. My clients were getting very angry with all the spam and they blammed me of course. Like I was sending the spam to them.
