I don't know how you handle your framed IDX, but I literally frame mine (well, it's offline while I yell and scream at my local board to get my MLS working).

If you literally frame the IDX:
    Code:
    <iframe src="youridxurlgoeshere" height="" width="" name="" scroll="" etc etc etc></iframe>
Then they don't leave your page. You can also get a better time frame of how long they search, since they technically never leave your page.

Since my IDX isn't really there (fake data etc), I can't prove this 100%, but this sounds um.. sound in my head.
If you're not remembered, you never existed.

At a recent seminar I attended on real estate websites, the guy basically said that on some good sites the idx page if it happens to be on the main page may get 95% of the traffic, and the other pages 1% 2% whatever, becouse the visitors DON'T CARE ABOUT YOU!!! They just care about houses for sale and what the prices are for what they get.

They also said that if you use a open IDX you may get people over and over again who only go to that page and nothing else until they are ready to actually see something, then they click around more, or just call you.

What do you want your bounce rate to be around for your search page? I would think you would want a high rate especially if they navigated there from another page. I think having a high bounce rate on your index page would be bad, but isn't the idea to get them to your search page and have them contact you.For my site I guess I would want them bouncing from the thank you page after they register on one my my forms but that is not the only way they may contact us.

    Dan -

I've seen a pretty high bounce rate on the search page. This, as you've said, isn't a big deal. People tend to nagivate there, do their searching, and leave. I worry a lot more about the bounce rate on my index page.

It seems that the bounce rate is a skewed number if we use framed pages, and or 3rd party sites for IDX services. Are there any suggestions on how to set these pages up so that we can get a more accurate number?

    Dwayne,

I think you can get a feel for bounce rate for a framed page, but, you can't tell how many pageiews you get...
