Default SEO a waste of time?

I am not sure if anyone here is familiar with D irk Z eller or not, but if you are not, he is a trainer who is all about prospecting.

He tells us to focus our attention on DIPA - Direct Income Producing Activities. He specifically mentioned in his last coaching email that we should NOT waste time on SEO.

I'm thinking he's talking to the "average agent" and not that I'm trying to be conceited but, well, this board has more #1 SERPs than anywhere else I know.

Reaffirm to me that SEO is not a waste of time! :-)

That is all he has to sell.

Most would be wasting their time. Let's hope most agents take that advice, particularly in my area.

I figured this would be good for us to kick around. I agree that he couldn't sell SEO and shouldn't - he's a traditional type that thinks the 'Net is a tool but not the end-all be-all (and in many respects he is right).

    Drew,

I have been doing SEO on my site since the beginning of November. My first lead did not come until the middle of January. Guy wants to sell $1,000,000 and buy $1,500,000. Second guy: sell a $439,000, buy $600,000. 3rd: listing $170,000 4th: buy $500,000. No brokerage agreements signed yet...Just sent the listing agreement for the $170,000 out of state yesterday, should have it today. $439,000 doing repairs right now, will list in 2 weeks. $500,000 comes in town on the 18th to look at houses. $1,500,000 - as soon as I find the one he wants, we'll write a contract.

Plus 2 that couldn't qualify and a few that stopped contacting me.

My site hit 1st page for google 2 weeks ago. We'll see over the next month or so what happens.

Do you think that is worth doing SEO for???

That's about 4 million in sales and I still have a lot more work to do to get to #1 for my terms.

For most agents SEO is a waste of money. This is coming from someone who has SEO as part of his sales portfolio.

Coming up #1 is very "glamorous" and so many companies will base products around selling agents this dream. However, most agents fail on SEO because of all the missing peripherals. For example, they take a black hat approach and by the time the come up #1, their site is a complete mess. Or they have no systems in place to properly generate leads and more importantly INCUBATE those leads.

So a lot of agents fail in getting an ROI on SEO because of everything but the SEO.

That's a good point. The leads I've gotten so far seem pretty good so I guess we'll see what happens!

YES SEO is a complete and udder waste of time. Please do not do it, especially in my market. Cease and desist from all SEO efforts at the beach. It is imperative that no one partake in any SEO activities having anything to do with delaware real estate

    Udder waste of time!
