I've had a lot of success optimizing pages the way they are described in message 6.

H1 is the overall topic of the page.
H2 for the first subsection
h3 - h5 as needed deeper into the subsection
H2 for the second subsection
h3 - h5 as needed deeper into the subsection
etc.
