    Default Neighborhood Profiles

    Hey guys -

I'm putting together an outline for my neighborhood profiles. Bear in mind - these are specific neighborhoods, not communities. I am incorporating a "view listings now" button into each neighborhood profile. This is what I have - any feedback would be appreciated:

    Specific Neighborhood

    I. Geographic Location
    a. description by streets
    b. description by landmarks
    c. proximity to local attractions

II. Benefits of living in neighborhood

III. Area Attractions - i.e. lakes, music venues, bars/restaurants, etc...

IV. Schools - list of elementary, middle, & HS, their phone #s & their ratings

IV. Market Statistics for past 2 years

how about proposed developments / changes to the area? maybe a differentiation between commercial development & residential. I think If I was buying that's something I'd like to know.

I think adding a information page for contact information to the neighborhood necessities would be great. Adding information for the local association, water district (if there is one), etc.

Are you going to work in any google maps? The new MyMaps feature within Google Maps might be of value to you here, we just started to play around with this - here is our first MyMap focusing on the Boston Penny Savings Bank Condos, a new luxury development in the South End. Definitely click on the map marker for the popup (notice the customization). Let me know what you think - there's definitely some potential with this.

Very good idea Eric.... I remember when we bought our house, one of the first things we asked our neighbors was which pizza place they recommend, and it still took a while to find a good one ;-)

For school information, we also include magnet schools, charter schools, private schools, colleges and sometimes prominent preschools. We write short but detailed paragraphs describing each one. Sometimes it is harder to find info on the more obscure ones, but that is one thing that differentiates us.

I run my neighborhood pages similar to the way Eric has and have had success. Whenever a visitor gives me feedback, they always mention how they liked my information about the particular suburb. Sometimes adding a Google Adsense Search Bar that opens in a new window helps out as well. Hey howabout that, my 100th post. Not bad for an introvert.

They're coming along. I'm starting out by just adding the 2005 & 2006 stats for each neighborhood, then I'm going to go back & write the profile of each. It's pretty tedious, so I put an ad on craigslist to see if I could find anyone to write them - I've responded to a few of the responses but haven't had any luck yet finding anyone good. Thanks to Ronnie from austinreferralrealty.com for the idea about running the CL ad.
