The sites are edited by VOLUNTEERS and one or more editors are assigned to every category. If there isn't one listed, go to the category higher, and keep climbing until you find an editor named.

How high did you have to climb? Now think about all the categories and sites that person is overseeing. A mammoth task? probably!

Therefore there is no time frame. If you have an editor who likes Real Estate you may get listed efficiently. If you have an editor who likes shopping the shopping sites will get done first and you will be left until later.

Best solution to keeping DMOZ efficient - become an editor. Even if you don't edit your own category you are making it easier for the other editors to get to your category.
