    Default Title Tag Spam?

I recently dropped several pages for my big keyword, and it seemed to happen soon after I changed my title tag. I've been adding content and links steadily so I was wondering if I was being penalized for my title tag.

I had it like this: Oakland Ca Real Estate | Oakland Realtor | Find Oakland Ca Homes

I have since changed it, but is that repeating Oakland too many times? Could I get penalized for it?

Doubt it. I would use that title tag but I would change one of the CA's to accually writing california out.

I would doubt it as well...

What other changes have you made since the last time your site cached and what do you mean by dropped several pages...deindexed several pages? dropped several pages in rankings?

I think there are many other more likely explanations.

You don't ever get penalized by Google for what you put in your title tag, in fact unless you have done something you "know" is strictly against a search engines terms of service, I suggest you remove the phrase penalized from your vocabulary.

Now this does not mean you are making the best use of your title, but that is not the same thing at all. In terms of my experience, for my title I typically put my main 2 phrases in my title, and then see how I can adjust it to make the most sense and entice the most clickthroughs - If I have room, I might put in a third phrase.

I mean a drop in SERPS. I went from pg 3 to pg 13 for my second biggest keyword. Still indexed though.

After thinking about it more, I realized that I had also removed a nice chunk of content from my homepage that had keywords in it and put it in my blog instead. I recently put the content back on the homepage and added more. Well see what happens.
