The intent was to discuss social networking as it applies to the web, but certainly (As with content writing or anything else we do) there is often a lot to be learned from real life experience and concepts can often be applied and shared from real world to web - after all, most web social networking is modeled in some way after a pre-existing idea or concept from pre-web networking, the web just provides many new tools and ways to achieve great networking.
