I've got a tiepin from BNI going back about twenty years. It sits in with the stuff in one of my bathroom drawers and just cannot be lost, evidently.

But I thought you were going to be talking about social networking web sites.

Not every day, every Thursday, goodness every day that would kill me, that is way to early to be nice to people every day

The intent was to discuss social networking as it applies to the web, but certainly (As with content writing or anything else we do) there is often a lot to be learned from real life experience and concepts can often be applied and shared from real world to web - after all, most web social networking is modeled in some way after a pre-existing idea or concept from pre-web networking, the web just provides many new tools and ways to achieve great networking.

True. Social Networking on the web can work very well, but for the real estate agent it will be very hard to fit in properly. With web social networking, you should not focus on "promotion" but on "attraction." It is a very hard lesson for a professional salesperson to learn and get right.

Once you find a field you belong in. You will network with those that make sense. Those you need and those that need you.

Business cards go in the garbage.
