    Smile Negative Key Words

Will anyone talk to negative key words and how they are used I guess for a PPC campaign. Not sure it they would be used in any other way.

I am assuming that they are words that you use to try to keep your PPC campaign from getting in front of people you don't want it in front of such as people interested in purchasing a home in a market are totally not yours.

I have heard talk that every PPC campaign by a local realtor should probably have a list of 500 to 800 negative key words. Would be interesting and helpful to see a good list.

I'd look up Ronnie's posts in this forum about that topic. He's given a lot of good tips about negative keywords. I doubt he or anyone else is going to share their list of negatives though.

Everyone's list of negatives will have keywords focused on their own.

For a quick guide though, check out http://www.realestatewebmasters.com/...6&postcount=10

    Jim,

You've got all the basics right. About 1,000 of my negatives are generic, and about 200 are local, although "local" also includes names of many national brokerages and chains as well as regional and local companies and agents. The list I provide for my PPC clients when I set up new campaigns is only the generic stuff, and I coach them on how to monitor their own web stats to identify additional negatives that may need to be added.

Ronnie, what do you do with Yahoo PPC, that only allows 50 negative key words? Do you know of a way to get around it?

Lack of negative keyword flexibility is one of the reasons I don't use or support Yahoo Search any more. But the main reason is that my ROI on Yahoo Search was never any good. A registered lead from Yahoo Search would cost me 3x what the same lead costs from AdWords. it didn't take long to see that stat developing, and I only used Yahoo Search for 6 months.

I've started out using all 3 PPC groups, but thanks for the advice.

Thank you very much RonnieG One of my friends who suggested wordtracker.com ever delt with them, or someone similar.

I am getting my site together, and know that I will do a PPC campain for at least a while. I know that in the short run it is the only way that the site is going to be findable to people who I don't market to off line.

I am excited to see what happens over the longer run though becouse in several of the towns that I am interested in the only competition as far as with google is from justlisted, housevalues, homegain and others of that ilk. Any advice on beating those out when it comes to google rankings.

My negative keyword list runs 835 long right now. Some of the ones I get a kick out of are '[house] of international pancakes' and 'little [house] on the prairie.' Don't forget that you can enter a keyword or two into the google keyword suggestion tool and use it to find negatives also.
