Diffferent results when signed in

Anyone have some info on this? When I am signed in, I am #5 for "atlanta real estate" when I am not signed in I am #3.

So, what's the story here?

How many people have and use Google accounts?

Are these tailored results? If so, I would think I would come up higher for myself. I certainly click my website more than the others...

Ryan, can you be more specific, Signed into what? or do you mean you just have your page open from searching for it in google?

When I search signed into Google account and not signed in ... you're #3 both times for atlanta real estate.
I would guess that you happened to hit a different Data Center when you signed in.

When you are signed in to Google and you click on a site, it "saves" that particular result, iow...pushing those clicked on sites further up the results page.

It has to do with your own search history while you're signed in to your Google account.

I guess I should be happy. I really thought I was at #5...

Wow! I need a life. You should see how many searches I have performed related to real estate...

I am the same way. While my main keyword is the primary focus, more than half of my time is spent trying to figure out how to improve other terms as well.

I will always sign out before I do this...from now on. Skewed results don't help!

From what I understand, the personalized search results are computed primarily by your search history. When you are signed into your Google account with the Search History on, Google will keep track of the search results that you click on and use that data to deliver a personalized set of results for your query. The results that you click more on should creep up higher in the results and Google also tries to determine related sites and boost those sites up, as well.

Google also factors in information from your personalized Google Homepage and Google Bookmarks.
