Link Exchange-Or Not?

so i'm seeing a lot of people just taking there link pages down. is it not true that a site that has state wide link exchange pages better than a site that doesn't exchange links at all?

i think all would say yes!!

so i say this, if someone wants to do contextual linking, that's great, do it. but keep the other links that you have already exchanged links with up. i don't see your site being hurt by this. you are just hurting the relationship with the person that you exchanged links with.

if you want to do contextual linking, contact the person that you exchanged links with already and ask him/her. if they say no, keep the original exchange going because it still benifits you.

i think we are doing ourselves a disservice if we all take our link exchange pages down.

do contextual links but keep the reciprical pages up.

I believe what he is referring to (always a someone of few words) is:

It is generally the opinion that a site that has state link pages is not better than a site that does no link exchanging.

There are many sites that do not exchange links and perform very well.
