    Default EZRealty joomla extension

Has anyone used the EZRealty Joomla extension? It looks really interesting from the demo and the docs, but I have yet to talk to anyone who actually uses it in production.

I have created several, but because of the heavy zend/ioncube encoding, I am ditching the script and moving to openrealty.

One site is (take out the spaces) tropical.....homes......dot.....com.....au and my last site for a client which is a sticking point e-ze......dot......com.....au is worthless as the client wants suburbs put in the search mechanism and it can't be done. This simple to do piece of code is impossible as the file is encoded. Developer is not interested so don't go there.

Never but never purchased an encoded script.

Agreed, encoded scripts are the badness.
    Thanks for the reply!

Dalt, perhaps you don't know enough about the component to comment here. Firstly EZ Realty already supports suburbs. Yes there are 4 files that are encoded, but these do not interfere with customising the component. I have made several customisations to this component, as have dozens of other users.

And for you to say the developer is not interested is frankly a load of rubbish. I work for a software company full time, and Kathy's support could give us lessons!!!

Whoopydoo, midlandshomefinder. I am very happy you have a job that is fulltime working for a software company. Please be more specific. Are you the office boy, drink waiter or are you Bill Gates private assistant. For your interest, I happen to run a large and successful marketing/pr company. When I state you can't modify the search engine to satisfy my client because of encryption, then that is exactly what I mean. It is irrelevant how many files (or fewer files) are encrypted, if it can't be customized then the script is worthless.

I have moved to another open source script that can be customized.

Your comments regarding Kathy's support leads me to believe you have been setup to make this post. Unless you have had specific dealings with her in regards to this software, you have no basis for making such an uninformed statement. In other words, your credibility is shot and your plug that you actually have a fulltime job fails to impress. In the meantime, I have a website that I have spent a lot of time and money developing for a third party just waiting to be trashed. Maybe you would like to buy it off me seeing that you have so successfully circumvented the encryption.

My statement is about as informed as yours, though from your actual comments, probably more so. Not that it is relevent, I provide technical support for the software company, and I also run several successful websites. That's not the point. Your comments here, and elsewhere, are extremely inaccurate, if not slandorous in some cases. The component can be customised, and has been very successfully but dozens and dozens of users.

Regarding Kathy's support, I am simply a user of her software. No 'setup' as you so eloquently put it.

Your comments regarding me making 'slanderous comments' shows your lack of business acumen. Stating fact is just that and nothing else.

However the fact is that in the last 30 minutes you have been posting all over the web in support of EZ Realty informs me that this is an orchestrated campaign.

I refer you and others to the comments at extensions.joomla.org in regards to the software and you will find many other comments in support of the points I raise.

I know doubt will discover more of your posts there as well.

I agree with Dalt... Openrealty in this case is definetely better than encrypted trash.
When i develop something i want to have completely freedom to develop it the way i want.
With encrypted files its terrible to do...
That should force me to use cracking tools (if there is one available for the used encryption).

Dont understand me wrong, i understand that the scripter who made the script needs to get paid... thats right.
But after i'ved paid for my script i demand full freedom to change things as i want.
No "powered by" or "copyright blabla" shit.

Its good that there is a openrealty project

    midlandshomefinder is 100% correct.

I just happened to do a search for EZ Realty as I'm in the process of creating my first EZ Realty website and this is the only thread I came across.

The encoding does not affect the customization of the script at all. All it does is enforce a single domain license. Suggesting otherwise is complete bull crap. Suburbs are supported and easily customized.

As for Kathy's support? Well I've not made much use of it but she was there immediately for the one thing I did need... plus any level of author support is better then Open Realty She is there every day answering questions and helping people. I suspect she has a low tolerance for pushy loud mouth no-it-alls though.

I've also created sites with openrealty and its ok as well. Open Realty kicks butt for the price and if you are looking for a relatively simple solution at a great price it is the choice. It is pretty customizable and works great for small to medium projects. It would really be nice to see someone take over development and run with it.

EZ Realty is a native Mambo/Joomla component with several very useful author created and supported modules included in the price. It works very well. I am very impressed at how tight and clean the code is and it is very easy to get to know. It has a great back end (especially since the release of 5.2.0. I was extremely hesitant to purchase an encoded script myself (I use mostly Open Source on my projects) but after hunting down some examples of the script in use and talking to a couple of the owner/operators I bought it and I don't regret it on any level.

I will buy it again if other suitable projects come up and I will of course always fall back on Open Realty when its a suitable solution.

Wow, Binary Whisper, is this really Kathy. You could have disguised a fake review on EZRealty better.

I refer others to more unbiased reviews of EZRealty at this LINK - To state that encryption is non existant and does not prevent customization is unadulterated crap. Try and customize the search component and you can't is one perfect example. Sure you change change some fields, but obviously the developer Kathy has limited knowledge of marketing - if you want to create a genuine multi user experience for real agents, the script is a lame duck.
