Default Does Google Discount Back Links that are Paid for?

Hi, I have the opportunity to have my real estate website listed in 11 real estate directories with high page rank (all 5 and one 6) for an annual fee of $99.

Will these backlinks counted by Google when it will assign page rank to my website or will they be ignored or given low weight because they are paid for??

In other words does it worth it to pay the $99?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Be careful Petros, whats probably going to happen is that you will get listed in 11 Pr 5&6 directories, but buried so deep in the site, you are actually getting a PR0 or 1 back-link. And your anchor and descriptions will be all of the same. Very spammy. Check the PR of the site you are going to be on and try and submit to each site on your own. Then you can have different anchor text and descriptions. I don't think that $99 is worth the money on spam links.

In real estate sector I would not pay for links unless the following criteria were met.
    1. The page on which the link was displayed has NO MORE than 20 other links.
    2. It has some google PR indicating that at least the page was being indexed.
    3. The content of the page was relevant to my sector.
    4. Directories yes but maximum 5$
    5. Link farms no
    6. I do not have to offer a reciprocal.
    7. I have the opportunity to control the content of the description and anchor text.

Hope this helps and answers your question Petros

Your welcome Petros. Those are some more good points Andy. I would recommend article and blog writing. It's free and provides well more link juice than most directories. Good Luck Petros!

Not to hijack this thread, but what about paying $10 for a one way link back to your site from a few select directories which are showing up in your keyword search anywhere from #5 to #20 in google? They seem to me to be worth it wouldn't you say?

    Thanks,

well it depends on the volume of searches. Check against overture. If its a popular search, you can expect traffic from the directories providing the links pages are not flooded and the visitors can find the relevant page within the directory. Whether your site will benefit from stronger PR will depend on the quality of the directory your link appears on as detailed above.

Second option is to negotiate. Most directories will prefer to have $5 than nothing.

Most directories will, but only quality directories stick to their guidelines and set prices. Those who negotiate rules, are not serious businessmen and probably do not run a good directory.

the only thing I would say, is make sure all those 11 directories are hosted on different IPs, if they are, then why not pay for those links? also, are they at least featured? $9 per link seems steep for a regular submission...

Good tips thanks- too bad I have already submitted to a few that may now turn out to be worthless .

How often does Google change the priority of their indexing/ranking.. one day PR links are good the next day it is traffic.

I suppose they change just as we are tying to figure it out!

    Thanks!
    Thanks!
